Mike Harding

On-stage-at-Derby-sizedWith a resume that reads folk singer, musician, comedian, writer, broadcaster, fell-walker and fly-fisherman; it’s hard to pigeon-hole Mike Harding.

He’s been described by Billy Connelly as the “funniest man in England”,  acclaimed by his peers as the “grandfather of alternative comedy” and his recent stand-up tours have proved the point with sell out shows all over the country. “The Godfather of Folk” would be an equally appropriate title given his half century as a much-loved performer and a fervent champion of the music.

He’s also had over 40 books and plays published and built-up Radio 2’s weekly folk show over 15 years  from an audience of less that 100,000 to almost a million before they axed him because they wanted to play folk music more in tune with the daytime o

utput! Now he presents his own weekly folk show on the internet, which you can hear live on Sunday teatime or download as a Podcast.

He’s also advised on the programming for the very first Costa del Folk and will be compering most of the main concerts. “What I’m really looking forward to” he says, “is listening to some of the best acts in the business  –  and joining in with the sessions in the bar”.
